MADSPiN BABY DJing in a vintage band tee at River Sounds Festival 2026

“Behind the decks and giving this tee another good night out.”

Vintage tees, late nights and a wardrobe having the time of its life.

I recently shared a series of Instagram stories connecting two of my favourite things: playing music and wearing vintage tees.

And it got me thinking… if my tees could talk, what would they say?

Honestly? “We’re having a blast.”

They come to gigs with me. They spend hours behind the decks, catch up with friends, get taken out dancing and occasionally make it into a photo where I’m pulling a ridiculous face because the track has just kicked in.

They’ve become my DJ uniform. There’s something about a well-worn vintage tee that feels right when I’m playing. Comfortable, full of character and already carrying a little music history before I’ve even loaded the first track.

A few stories before mine

One of my favourite things about vintage is that you rarely know the whole story.

Who wore it first? Did they buy it at a gig? Was it their favourite shirt for years, or something they tucked away and forgot about?

I can’t tell you where every tee has been. But I love that someone chose it, wore it and gave it a life before it found its way to me.

Then I get to add my chapter.

“Another gig, another chapter.”

A night behind the decks. A catch-up that turns into a dance. That moment when you look up and the room is moving together, and you know exactly why you love doing this.

Somewhere in the middle of it all is a tee having another very good night.

Yes, I’ve worn the tees

That’s part of the story behind East Coast Collabs.

Vintage band tees are my thing, and I’ve worn every tee I put up for sale. Sometimes I’ve had my time with one and I’m ready to let someone else enjoy it. Sometimes letting it go takes a little longer.

You know the ones. You put them in the “sell” pile, then immediately think of three places you’d like to wear them.

Back into the wardrobe they go.

But when a tee makes it onto East Coast Collabs, I’m ready to pass it on.

I’ve chosen it, worn it, loved it — and now I want to see where it goes next.

Your turn to take it out

Maybe you’ll wear it to see your favourite band. Maybe it’ll become your weekend staple. Maybe you’ll end up behind the decks in it yourself.

That’s the fun of passing these pieces on. Something that’s been part of my life gets to become part of yours.

And while I’m a sucker for a great graphic, a beautifully faded print and that soft cotton you only seem to get with age, what keeps me coming back is how a tee becomes your tee.

The one you reach for. The one people recognise you in. The one attached to a night you still talk about.

So if you’ve been watching my gig stories and spotting the shirts, yes — some of those might find their way onto East Coast Collabs.

They’ve been out enjoying themselves.

Now it’s your turn to show them a good time.
